A hardware store where somebody helps you find the part.

We’ve been on Colorado Blvd since 1945. Tools, paint, plumbing and garden supplies, plus the small odd parts the big stores don’t stock. If we don’t have it, we’ll order it for you.

Tue–Fri 8 AM to 5 PM

Tue–Fri8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

“I have always been able to consult them on work arounds for projects, advice for the oddest little fit or parts.”

What we carry

Tools

Hand tools, power tools, fasteners, and the drawer of small hardware you can never find anywhere else.

Paint

Interior and exterior paint, brushes, rollers, tape and drop cloths, with someone to tell you how much you actually need.

Plumbing

Pipe, fittings, washers, valves and the replacement parts that keep an old Eagle Rock house running.

Lawn & garden

Hoses, sprinklers, soil, feed and the seasonal things you remember you need on the first hot weekend.

If we don’t have it, we’ll order it

Tell us what you’re fixing and we’ll look. If it isn’t on the shelf we can order almost anything, and it comes in on our next delivery. That beats a second trip across town.

Call and ask us

What our neighbors say

“The icing on the cake was when my car was recently vandalized and I needed tape to fix up broken parts to be able to go home. The owner personally just gave me blue tape to make sure I was taken care of.”

Prairie S.

“A local hardware store is a gem for a neighborhood and so many have closed in the LA area. These folks can order just about anything, if they don’t have it in stock and it’ll be in on their next delivery.”

Freddy D.

“There is absolutely no reason to go any place else if you live in Eagle rock or Highland Park. This business needs to be supported. It’s a local legend.”

Pixie B.

“Knowledgeable staff, parking in the rear, good to outstanding variety of items and a neighborhood institution!”

Three generations on Colorado Blvd

The first Tritch hardware store opened in 1859, just outside Denver. After the Second World War the family came west and opened this one on Colorado Blvd, and we have been here ever since. Glenn Tritch runs it now, the third generation to stand behind this counter.

In June 2024 the city named the corner of Colorado and Townsend Tritch Family Square. We are still the same store we were the week before.

Our name hand-painted in yellow above the entrance: Entrance to Tritch Hardware.
Somebody in the family painted that sign.

Questions we get

Is there parking?

Yes, there is a lot behind the store. It is on the small side, so take it slow coming in.

Why are you closed on Mondays?

We are closed Sunday and Monday, and we open at 8 AM Tuesday. Saturday we close at 1 PM. Our hours changed a while back, so if you have an old listing in your head, this is the current one.

Can you get something you don’t stock?

Usually. Call us and describe it, or bring in the broken piece. If we can order it, it arrives on our next delivery.

Are you a True Value store?

We are a True Value member, which is how we buy. The store is family owned and always has been.

Are you cheaper than the big box stores?

Not always. What we have is somebody who will walk you to the right shelf and make sure you leave with the part that fits.
